Job Description:

Position Summary ALEX advisors guide students as they navigate multiple learning pathways. Using a holistic and developmental approach, mentors assist students and connect them with resources as they explore possibilities, set goals and priorities, make informed decisions, integrate their curricular and experiential learning, and reflect on their growth. Each mentor will engage with approximately 250 students.

Responsibilities :

Advises students in resources, services and programs that will support them during their time at Hamilton and offers guidance in areas emphasizing onboarding their experience successfully and helping to guide the students’ reflection on the experience as it relates to their larger educational and life pursuits. Advisors are responsible for proactive outreach, primarily meeting students in-person, participating in the integrated advising network at the College and office initiatives, and administrative tasks associated with advising undergraduate students. (60%) Contributes to collaborating with our holistic advising curriculum with campus constituents across the college. (20%) Participates in staff meetings, professional development, and assessment activities. Utilize student data to inform ongoing communication strategy to increase student engagement with advisor. (20%) Actively participates in building our diverse, inclusive, and equitable campus community. Performs other duties as assigned. Education & Experience B.A. degree with 2 years of experience advising students in higher education required. Master’s degree in areas such as counseling/psychology, college student development, educational equity and diversity, global education, higher education advising, higher education pedagogy (scholarship of teaching and learning), or related fields, preferred. Experience working with diverse populations of traditional-age college students required; experience with student support software a plus. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledge and understanding of college student development. Excellent listening, writing, and speaking skills. Ability to be empathetic. Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion. High level of organizational and self-discipline skills.

Compensation Range:

$60,406 – $65,000 per year
