Position Overview:

A non-profit victim services agency is seeking compassionate, attentive, and dependable Hotline Workers to serve as a critical first point of contact for individuals experiencing intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and related crises. The Hotline Worker will provide emotional support, conduct screenings for emergency shelter, counseling, and legal advocacy, and engage callers in safety planning. This role requires excellent communication skills, empathy, and a strong commitment to survivor-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

Answer and respond to hotline calls in a supportive, non-judgmental, and trauma-informed manner. Conduct phone screenings for individuals seeking shelter, counseling, or legal advocacy services. Engage callers in safety planning and crisis de-escalation as appropriate. Provide referrals to appropriate community-based services and resources. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of hotline activity and client interactions. Participate in regular training, supervision, and team meetings. Ensure compliance with confidentiality standards and agency protocols.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred. Prior experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or trauma is a plus. Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and local community resources strongly preferred. Strong listening, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to remain calm and compassionate under pressure. Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are strongly encouraged to apply.

Work Environment:

This position is based in Nassau County and may include evening, weekend, or overnight shifts, depending on agency needs.
