We’ve got the perfect job for you! Part time, 4-8 hours per week , Wednesday afternoon/evening assisting neurodiverse man at home and in the community. As a Support Service Professional (SSP), you will partner one-on-on with a neurodiverse person to assist him in acquiring, maintaining, and improving the skills necessary to live independently in the community and finding opportunities to attend activities of interest. The SSP’s role consists of assisting, supporting, and guiding in the general areas of decision making, home management, communication, relationship development and socialization, participating in community functions and activities, and use of community resources. The SSP is also responsible for service documentation and various reporting obligations. We are currently seeking support for a creative and independent young man who is looking for a motivated and consistent peer (21-35 yrs) to partner with him! Our ideal candidate would serve as a role model and mentor and want to develop an authentic peer-to-peer relationship. You must be willing to help him explore and pursue his creative and recreational outlets, share ideas, and provide guidance and education towards developing the life skills necessary to achieve greater independence. He is looking for a reliable and trustworthy partner who is a clear and assertive communicator. You must have a vehicle and be willing to travel as he will need support in the local community exploring and expanding his social life. You will support him to move toward independence and expand his social circle. This will be done through redefining help as a co-learning and growing process, and through supporting the individual to move towards his strengths rather than away from his weaknesses. You will accomplish this through direct support and engagement with the individual, his natural supports and larger services team. This person enjoys concerts, museums and playing video games and going out to eat. He likes to keep active, by working out at the gym, hiking, biking and going to the beach. There is a basic expectation that you will:

  • Participate in all required trainings and meetings
  • Complete and submit daily service notes and timekeeping documents
  • Communicate promptly and in advance regarding all scheduling concerns
  • Report any health and safety concerns appropriately that arise when working with the participant Other desired qualifications include: Understanding of, and ability to apply the values of empowerment and collaboration
Hours:

flexible schedule depending on your and persons availability

Rate:

$25.00-28.67 depending on education and experience. Must have a driver’s license, access to a car, safe driving history, insurance, inspection, registration Be able to pass a background check.
