Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge of child development, including the implications of a broad range of delays, disorders and disabling conditions affecting learning and living skills.
Complete all documentation on the current web-based IEP system to maintain state and federal regulations for timelines, IEP content documentation including: present levels, level of service, amount of inclusion in general education, accommodations and related services. This information is used to maintain a data system for AOE compliance requirements and ongoing state and federal reporting.
Ability to implement IDEA compliance requirements in order to identify and support learning and social/emotional progress of students with disabilities.
Ability to provide consultation to and collaboration with general education teams to ensure student access to general education curriculum.
Ability to complete special education evaluations and analyze the outcomes to develop specialized instruction plans for the identified academic and social/emotional areas of need for each student.
Collaborate with other professionals within the school’s Multi-Layered System of Support (MLSS) as appropriate to support specialized learning outlined in the IEP.
Document needed modifications and accommodations in student IEPs, in collaboration with general education teachers.
Build positive relationships with parents/guardians and maintain consistent communication about the IEP process, documenting contact, facilitating meetings, creating amendments and all other IEP documentation requirements
Knowledge and experience using universal design strategies, positive behavior supports/interventions, and intensive case management.
Knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations for IEP compliance.
Responsible for building positive relationships with students, parents and other community partners.
Provide direction to paraeducators, general education teachers and related service providers to assure the consistent implementation of IEP goals and behavior support plan interventions for the student.
Act as the primary case manager for students in K-6th grade with IEPs at assigned school(s).
