Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW)
Candidates not holding the LCSW credential must obtain the license within four (4) years of employment as a social worker
Holds teaching certificate or eligible to apply
Preferred Qualifications:
License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW)
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with children and families
•Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.
Performance Responsibilities:
Collaborates with the school leadership team in formulating and coordinating services for student success.
Assists in the identification and placement process of students eligible for alternative programs.
Participates in school-based threat assessment team meetings and assists with performing the duties of the team.
Provides support services for students and staff including individual and small group counseling; consultations; referrals to other agencies and programs, and other services as needed and appropriate.
Maintains and monitors student performance and attendance data for informed decision-making, intervention plans and program evaluation.
Assists in the coordination of the Student Assistance Team and is a participating member of the team.
Provides case management services for students returning from alternative programs, hospitalizations, residential treatment and detention centers.
Provides attendance intervention services for students who are chronically absent or are habitually truant including filing truancy petitions for the State Attorney’s office or referring truancy cases to our Children/Families in Need of Service (CINS/FINS) provider.
Performs pre-expulsion summary investigations and pre-disposition reports (PDRs) for the Superintendent and School Board.
Provides district-wide crisis intervention services.
Administers risk assessments and threat assessments to evaluate suicidal and/or homicidal ideations and makes referrals as needed and appropriate.
Provides training and support to school staff in the areas of child abuse, suicide and crisis response to traumatic events, risk and threat assessments, mental health awareness, and other related areas as needed and appropriate.
Serves as the liaison between the schools and other social service agencies.
Conducts home visits and parent conferences to act as the liaison between the home and the school.
Provides support for families with economic challenges and the homeless education program, and makes referrals for any available assistance as appropriate.
Assists with the identification and implementation of student engagement programs such as Check and Connect.
Documents social work interventions and completes required forms as dictated by the district and state and maintains records and reports to meet all local and state guidelines.
Participates in professional development opportunities targeting the special needs of at-risk students and the profession of social work.
Participate in school- and district-level meetings as required and appropriate (school staff meetings, social work staff meetings, etc.).
Provides support and assistance to social worker interns and newly hired social workers as appropriate.
Provides support and assistance to other social workers on an as needed basis.
Provides services to individual schools and student populations as assigned by the Director.
Performs other job-related functions as assigned.
