Job Description

JOB DUTIES

• Provides direct counseling services to students assigned to the Multiple Skills and Services (MSS) program and other identified students with social emotional needs.
• Services students with global disabilities, inclusive of intellectual, physical, autism spectrum disorders, and medical impairments.
• Provides support to students and identifies interventions that are essential to success in the classroom.
• Develops and implements predictable routines, creates social narratives, provides choices, and uses visuals to support students.
• Assists with crisis management, including interventions per behavior management protocols when required and participates in the school-wide crisis team.
• Designs and implements content, instructional, and performance modifications.
• Ensures information is shared between teachers and paraprofessionals at team meetings.
• Participates in weekly or bi-weekly program meetings, building based meetings, and professional development activities.
• Conducts student assessments
• Works with a multi disciplinary team to ensure the creation and implementation of behavior plans and IEP goals and services.
• Establishes supportive relationships with students and families.
• Communicates and coordinates services with parents, outside agencies, and other school personnel.
• Other duties as assigned by the principal.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Appropriate Licensure
Master’s Degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs
