Duties include, but are not limited to, the following. Additions and modifications to these representative duties and responsibilities are under the purview of the Superintendent of Schools. Provide direct service to meet the social and emotional needs of students Work directly with all school staff members Maintain accurate and complete records of students progress and development Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms Communicate and meet with caregivers regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their child Participate in the planning and implementation of non-instructional activities, as needed Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Social Work or related field; Masters degree preferred Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education licensure for School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor and SEI Endorsement Strong clinical skills High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent computer/technology skills with the ability to utilize various computer software and app programs Committed to the vision of high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic and linguistic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the opportunity gap A self-reflective, active learner capable of interactive dialogue with all members of the school community Ability to properly manage confidential information Able to supervise students of various ages in different school settings (playground, cafeteria, etc.) Outstanding interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and respect for others with the ability to establish rapport with and relate to students, caregivers, and coworkers with respect, compassion, tact and understanding Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, diversity, and anti-racist practices Preferred candidates will be bi-lingual in English and a second language, Spanish preferred.
