Responsibilities:
The Social Worker III position in Adult Services is responsible for two programs. The SW III serves as an Adult Protective Services (APS) SW who is responsible for receiving, evaluating and investigating reports of alleged abuse, neglect or exploitation of disabled adults in Iredell County. The APS SW provides planning and mobilization services on the adult’s behalf. In addition, the APS social worker has regular contact with medical providers, law enforcement, NC court systems and other community agencies that serve disabled adults. The SW III also serves as the Adult Home Specialist (AHS) who is responsible for licensing and monitoring of Iredell County Adult Care Homes. The AHS provide technical assistance and consultation to adult care home administrators on licensing requirements, and also conducts compliant investigations on Adult Care Homes. SW III is required to be on in-take rotation for program services, along with participation in the energy assistance programs.
Special Attributes and Skills:
Worker needs good planning and organizational skills in order to cover the myriad and various activities inherent in this position. The worker needs to have some prior knowledge of interviewing and assessment skills in good physical and emotional health in order to carry out the requirements of driving from place to place and being alert to potential hazards and dangers. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary in order to give and receive required human behavior and beginning knowledge of the characteristics of psychosis and mental illness is essential if the worker is to effectively deal with the needs of the client group.
Minimum Education and Experience :
Master’s degree from accredited school of social work or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work or directly related experience; four-year degree in a human services field and two years of social work or experience; or graduation from a directly related four-year college or university and three years of directly related experience.

A. Social Worker II – $52,997.53 – $82,676.15 (Grade 329C) Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work, or four-year degree in a human services field one year of social work or directly related experience; or graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of directly related experience. B. Social Worker I – $48,070.33 – $74,989.71 (Grade 327C) Four-year degree in a human services field, four-year college or university degree and two years of directly related experience.
THERE IS NO SUBSTITUION FOR BACCALAUREATE DEGREE.
Salary Range:
$58,429.78 – $91,150.46 (Social Worker III – Grade 331C)
