This position requires a combination of RA skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to handle increased responsibility. SUMMARY The Resident Assistant Shift Lead is responsible for providing leadership and support to other RAs and residents during their assigned shifts. This role involves overseeing shift operations, ensuring resident safety and well-being, and serving as a point of contact for residents and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS A

The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the mission, values and operating principles of the Buffalo City Mission.

Shift Leadership:

Oversee shift operations and ensure smooth transitions between shifts. Provide guidance and support to other RAs on duty assisting in task completion when needed. Assign tasks and responsibilities to RAs as needed. Serve as a point of contact for residents and staff during the shift. Conduct shift briefings and debriefings. Communicate with Manager

  • Resdeintital Services to seek guidance related to higher decisions and implementation as needed Conduct direct observation of drug and alcohol screenings, including breathalyzer and urine tests.

Represent the organization to all clients, volunteers and fellow co-workers in a Christ like manner that serves as an example of Christian behavior.

Resident Support:

Provide direct support to residents, including responding to inquiries and concerns. Mediate resident conflicts and promote a positive living environment. Monitor resident well-being and identify potential needs. Enforce shelter or residential living rules and regulations and oversee residential processes like laundry and linen exchange. Ensure proper monitoring of resident events Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation. Oversee and assist in medication monitoring

Safety and Security:

Assist in ensuring the safety and security of the facility and residents during the shift. Conduct regular rounds and safety checks. Respond to emergencies and follow established protocols. Document and report any incidents or safety hazards.

Administrative Duties:

Complete shift reports and maintain accurate records. Assist with and oversee administrative tasks, such as resident intakes and discharges ensuring accurate data entry into CROSS (Client Record Online Service System) Maintain accurate logs of resident activities and incidents. Ensure accurate documentation of medication monitoring if applicable. Report on vacated units and preparation status

Communication and Collaboration:

Communicate effectively with other RAs, supervisors, and residents. Collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth operations. Provide feedback and suggestions for improvement.

Training and Mentorship:

Assist in training new RAs. Serve as a mentor to other RAs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:

Associate degree in human services or related field, or the equivalent in education and work experience Previous experience in a leadership role. Training in conflict resolution or crisis intervention.

Other Qualifications:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Leadership and supervisory skills. Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations. o Ability to enforce rules and maintain boundaries. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures. Experience as a Resident Assistant or similar role. First Aid and CPR certification. Ability to de-escalate crisis situations. In the midst of a mature walk with Jesus Christ and able to articulate belief. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Teamwork
