Job Description

Group Facilitator-Substance Abuse Facility torch Recovery Center 6 Allard Road, Bayville, NJ 08721 Job Summary The Group Facilitator plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based group therapy and psychoeducational sessions to individuals in treatment for substance use disorders. The facilitator is responsible for creating a supportive, structured environment where clients can develop insight, coping skills, and healthy social interactions. This position requires a strong understanding of addiction, group dynamics, and therapeutic interventions. Key Responsibilities Plan, facilitate, and document group therapy sessions, including psychoeducational, process, CBT, relapse prevention, mindfulness, and specialty groups (e.g., trauma-informed, gender-specific). Adhere to clinical protocols and evidence-based practices consistent with ASAM criteria and NJ state licensure standards. Maintain timely and accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR) including group notes and progress summaries. Collaborate with clinical team members including primary counselors, case managers, and medical staff. Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and required supervision sessions. Assist in developing individualized treatment goals as they relate to group therapy. Uphold ethical and professional standards in all interactions with clients and staff.

Qualifications Education & Certification:

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field (required). CADC, LCADC, LSW, LCSW, LPC, or similar NJ license or certification (required or in progress). CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).

Experience:

1-2 years experience facilitating groups in a substance abuse treatment setting preferred. Familiarity with co-occurring disorders and trauma-informed care is a plus.

Skills:

Strong group facilitation and conflict resolution skills. Knowledge of DSM-5 criteria and ASAM levels of care. Excellent verbal and written communication. Cultural competency and the ability to work with diverse populations.
