JOB SUMMARY
The SIS Program Specialist supports individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) through the Supports Intensity Scale (SIS) process. This includes gathering information, attending assessment meetings, conducting internal assessments based on the SIS manual, and potentially initiating requests for reassessments to accurately represent the support needs of individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
EDUCATION OR TRAINING REQUIREMENT
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in human services, psychology, social work, or a related field; relevant experience can be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
Minimum of 3 years of direct work experience with people with IDD is essential. Experience conducting structured interviews or psychological assessments is preferred. Proficiency in gathering and verifying information from diverse respondents.

TRAVEL:
Approximately 20% travel within Georgia is required.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Comprehensive understanding and application of the SIS manual for internal assessment purposes. Attend every SIS update meeting. Maintain and update the shared Excel file with SIS scores. Prior to a SIS update meeting, meet with program staff to gather information to be used in completing the SIS. This includes having the answers to all SIS sections prior to the meeting and reviewing them with the program staff. It may involve providing program staff with standardized tools or templates. Physically meet everyone the organization serves. During non-assessment periods, conduct informal evaluations to determine potential discrepancies in current SIS scores. If a current SIS score is not accurate, request a new SIS through the Supports Intensity Scale Request Form. This involves working with Support Coordinators (SC’s) and providing them with all necessary information to make the request. Gather information from multiple respondents, which may include family members, professionals, or other individuals who have known the individual for at least 3 months and observed them in various environments. Include the individual with IDD themselves as a respondent in the assessment process. Listen very closely to respondents and request additional information when needed. Integrate information gathered from multiple respondents and reconcile any contradictory information using professional judgment. Acknowledge and respect the unique perspectives that different respondents bring to the interview. Exercise professional judgment to reconcile differing respondent perspectives and determine final ratings. When interviewing self-advocates (people with IDD), be aware that they can provide valuable insights and unique perspectives, and their opinions should be respected and valued. They can participate nonverbally if needed, using methods like body shifts, utterances, smiles, picture selection, eye gazes, frowns, or grimaces; pictorial representations may be helpful.
