Job Responsibilities

  • THIS IS A SCDPPPS INTERNAL POSTING ONLY
  • Under limited supervision of the Regional Director, directs and manages all aspects of one or more county operations; manages human resources within the county or counties of oversight; manages fiscal resources within the county or counties of oversight; provides feedback into the development of and implements Field Services policies, standards, and procedures; develops and implements special county programs for offenders under the Department’s supervision; participates in the development of long and short term planning to accomplish Departmental and Divisional mission and goals in conjunction with the Regional Director; participates in the design and implementation of Field Services evaluation plans at the county level; maintains a professional communication network inside and outside the Department; participates in training county staff; serves as a Deputy Interstate Compact Administrator; promotes public relations within the county or counties of oversight; and maintains professional competence.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor’s degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses and experience in probation and parole work. An associate’s degree and two (2) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted; or a high school diploma and four (4) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted.
Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, sociology, education, counseling or other social/behavioral sciences or a bachelor’s degree which includes at least 15 credit hours in the aforementioned disciplines and completion of six (6) years of experience in criminal justice, counseling, or related professional human service work; four years of supervisory experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council in accordance with 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976.
