The Security Officer will be responsible for detecting any suspicious behavior and preventing vandalism, thefts or other criminal behavior. You must be well-trained in surveillance and dealing with perpetrators. The ideal candidate will inspire respect and authority as well as possess a high level of observation. The goal is to help the hotel in maintaining excellent working conditions by keeping our facilities safe and problem-free. Qualifications To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to adhere to each of the essential duties satisfactorily. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ensure that all guest needs and requests are completed in a timely manner. Ensure to follow through on all issues and discrepancies as pertaining to Security. Be aware of tone and composure when addressing guests and other Associates. Ensure that guests’ names are used throughout your interaction with them. Maintain knowledge of all hotel functions and services. Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence Assist guests with luggage as necessary. Act as concierge when in the hotel lobby. Maintain and submit daily surveillance activities and important occurrences logs of all suspicious activity, or anything out of the ordinary requiring follow ups. Ensure all guestroom doors are closed, and all public access doors are locked. (Secure all exit and doors throughout your shift) Familiarity with report writing Ensure all security alarms and camera feeds are functioning. Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation Check surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts Adhere to key control policies. Follow Emergency Protocol as per the situation. (Remove wrongdoers or trespassers from the area) Apprehend and detain perpetrators according to legal protocol before arrival of authorities Lifeguards – pool coverage as needed. Attend mandatory meetings and hotel functions Comply with all company standards and policies as established in the employee handbook. Other duties as required. Education and/or Experience A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); 2 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous hotel experience preferred, but not required.
Language Skills The ability to:
comprehend, read, write, and speak, both clearly, and effectively ensures that the lines of communication are open between the associates and guests at the hotel; and is absolutely essential. Customer service is our priority, so it is imperative that all Associates communicate to the best of their ability. Mathematical Skills The ability to perform basic mathematical functions: adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; along with the ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and interpret bar graphs. Certifications Eight and sixteen-hours security certificates. Lifeguard/CPR Certified preferred. FSD certification preferred. Safety Policies and Practices All Associates are responsible for following the Company safety policies and procedures. Work Environment and Reasoning Ability The ability to apply the use of common sense & understanding in order to carry out instructions, whether in written, oral or diagram form. The ability to work in close proximity with others comfortably, while multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Conflict resolution skills. Appearance and Performance Expectations All Associates are responsible for following the Company standards of appearance, which is a major part of all performance appraisals. Expectations of performance will be explained and assessed by your department head.
