Responsible for the repairs, maintenance, upkeep and replacement of the property’s systems in accordance with hotel standards. Will also assist in other areas of Engineering as assigned. Qualifications (Essential): Minimum two years’ experience as a commercial carpenter, commercial electrician, commercial maintenance, commercial plumber, or plant operations. Basic working knowledge of building maintenance, electrical, plumbing and refrigeration equipment. Working knowledge of repair and maintenance regarding: health codes; plumbing codes; plant equipment; electrical codes; architectural codes; structural codes; blue prints and wiring/plumbing schematics; building code improvement; mechanical and electrical/safety systems construction; national/local fire codes; proper chemical handling and disposal; power and hand tools, meters, etc. as it relates to the technical trades; local mechanical codes; OSHA codes and best practices. Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guest, management, and co-workers to their understanding. Ability to provide legible written communication. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to interpret manufacturer’s literature for installation, preparation, use and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the property. Qualifications (Desired): High school graduate or equivalent vocation training Previous guest relations and/or training. Any building trade license/certificate from the state of hotel’s operation.

Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision. Ability to endure abundant physical movements in carrying out job duties. Ability to enforce hotel’s standards, policies and procedures with staff. Ability to trouble shoot and use alternatives in emergency situations. Ability to handle potentially hazardous chemicals. Ability to maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information.

Engineer Standard Requirements:

1. Supports the Mission, Values and Vision of Shaner, Franchise, and the hotel. 2. Ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all guests and employees in a safe, secure environment. 3. Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for: a. Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs. b. Confidentiality of all data, including guest, employee and operations data. c. Quality Assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements. d. Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior. 4. Supports and participates in common teamwork: a. Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment. b. Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations. c. Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or guests regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns. d. Promotes positive public relations with guests and employees. e. Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

(Include the following. Other job related duties may be assigned.) Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as required to meet the needs of the Company’s business operations. Receive daily work assignments from Chief Engineer/Supervisor and review priorities and special projects. Schedule and perform work in accordance with preventive maintenance program in rooms, coordinating with the Rooms Division Department. Operate, maintain and repair or replace of the property’s heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration systems which include, but are not limited to air handling units, coils (heat/cooling), heaters, coolers, freezers, ice machines, mechanical equipment, pneumatic controls and air compressors systems. Perform plant operations services, including but not limited to, the economical operation of maintenance, repair or replacement of the property’s plant equipment and systems which include chillers and cooling towers. Install, maintain, replace or repair furniture, ceiling tiles, grid work, fasteners, doors, walls, sliding glass doors, framework, cabinetry, hinges, locks, and closers. Repair all types of special fabricated furniture such as chairs, cabinets, tables and benches. Assemble and install cabinetwork, partitions, permanent structures, walls and ceilings. Handle chemicals for designated uses/surfaces, according to hotel requirements. Perform plumbing service, including but not limited to, the operation of maintenance, repair or replacement of the property’s plumbing equipment and systems. Ensure that the swimming pool and equipment are properly maintained; conduct tests on water samples to ensure proper chlorination and PH. Perform laundry services, including but not limited to the operation, maintenance, repair or replacement of the property’s laundry equipment and systems. Performs kitchen services, including but not limited to, the operation, maintenance, repair or replacement of the property’s kitchen equipment. Perform emergency equipment and machinery repair as needed. Operate, maintain and replace or repair the property’s electrical systems services and equipment which include, but are not limited to electrical distribution panels, branch electric circuits, switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, motors, motor control circuits, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting systems, appliances, and power plant electrical systems. Maintain the proper use, cleaning, maintenance and storage of all tools. Initiate cost estimates of labor and materials for specific projects. Exercise safety precautions when working on equipment (use of safety signs, etc.).

Secondary Functions:

Assist with any special projects assigned. Attend designated department and staff meetings. Recommend energy saving ideas. Recommend safety ideas; participate in fire prevention and other life safety programs.
