GENERAL SUMMARY

Perform a variety of duties in and around the Agency’s facilities that include maintenance, repairs, renovations, and some manual landscaping duties necessary to maintain Agency owned grounds. Performs tasks such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs, as well as general building maintenance and custodial duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Repair and maintain physical structures and machinery. Demonstrate good knowledge of electricity, plumbing and carpentry. Demonstrate the ability to repair partitions, doors, windows, furniture and building framework, using hand and power tools. Check for and repair plumbing stoppages, breaks, and leaks in waste and water lines that might prevent proper operation. Repair and install plumbing fixtures, as required. Demonstrate the ability to examine and test such elements of systems as panels, controls, circuit breakers and motors in order to locate obvious faults such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires and loose connections. Replace faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses and other simple elements of electrical systems, fixtures and appliances. Performs various janitorial duties as required and directed. Install or repair a variety of facility equipment or appliances without supervision. Paint various surfaces using brushes, spray guns or paint rollers, as necessary. Routinely clean, strip, polish and wax facility floors. Replace glass windows, ceiling tiles and light bulbs and ballasts. Maintain building grounds. Remove and dispose of properly refuse and trash from grounds. Adjust, clean and perform minor mechanical work on grounds equipment. Pressure clean walkways and other exterior surfaces as needed. Apply pesticides as required. Performs other duties as requested also miscellaneous duties are performed according to instruction.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent plus 3 years construction/maintenance and grounds keeping experience.
