Job Description
Fiber Technician Helper 4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars Birmingham, AL Introduction C2 Technology Group, located in Montgomery Alabama, is seeking Helpers. This is a full-time position. The ability to work overtime is necessary when required. Typically, short duration travel is required throughout Alabama and neighboring states, with paid lodging and per-diem. Compensation Compensation rates are based on a combination of knowledge, experience, and ability.
Responsibilities:
Install and terminate various types of cables, including Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, and coaxial cables, according to industry standards. Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams to determine the optimal routing of cables. Install and configure cable trays, raceways, and other cable management systems. Test and troubleshoot cabling systems to ensure proper performance and compliance with quality standards. Perform cable audits and labeling for easier future maintenance and troubleshooting. Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs. Communicate effectively with team members, project managers, and clients to ensure project deadlines and specifications are met. Adhere to all safety protocols and industry standards while working on job sites. Provide excellent customer service and address any client concerns with professionalism.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Structured Cable Technician or similar role in the telecommunications or network installation industry. Knowledge of structured cabling standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, ANSI). Proficient in the installation and testing of copper and fiber optic cables. Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics. Familiarity with industry-standard cable testing equipment (e.g., cable testers, OTDR). Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work in tight spaces, and at heights. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in structured cabling (e.g., BICSI Installer 1 or equivalent). Experience with advanced network infrastructure installations. Knowledge of security systems, CCTV, and audio/visual systems.
