The Field Service Engineer provides highly visible customersupport through the performance of on-site installation, as well asoverseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, andrepair of complex equipment and systems. The Field Engineer willinstruct customers in the operation and maintenance of the systemand serve as company liaison with customer on administrative andtechnical matters for assigned projects. This role may include anyaspect of field support, and is not limited to system hardware andsoftware, PCs, and networking/wireless networking.

Location:

RemoteField role servicing customers located in the Columbus, OH area.

Company vehicle that can be used for personal use included with therole.

Job Responsibilities:

Perform installations, maintenance,validations, and repairs while ensuring compliance withPerkinElmer’s service standards and key performance indicators.

Engage with customers to understand their analytical workflows andtailor service offerings, including training, support, andupgrades. Enhance account profitability through efficient serviceexecution and by identifying revenue opportunities such as billablework, consumables, and service leads. Maintain assigned assets,including tools, test equipment (MTE), telecommunication equipment,and service parts inventory. Enhance PerkinElmer’s product qualityby proactively reporting improvement opportunities via the qualitynotification process. Attend higher level certification throughparticipation in company sponsored training & development offeringsComplete all administrative tasks, including but not limited totime reporting and assigned training. Maintain training andcompliance in areas of health and safety, security, environmentaland operational aspects of daily activities in the workingenvironment Nothing in this job description restricts management’sright to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities of this jobat any time

Critical Skills:

Outstanding interpersonal, written,and verbal skills, demonstrating the ability to communicateinformation clearly and accurately. Technical critical thinkingskills and attention to detail. Outstanding customer service skillscomplemented by an ability to listen to and interpret clientrequests. Aptitude for technical and practical matters.

MS Officeskills:

Outlook, PowerPoint, Word. Excellent team player with acustomer satisfaction focus. Ability to follow and create writtenand verbal directions, read and understand technical bulletins andservice manuals, work under time constraints, maintain alertnessand concentration, and work safely with potential hazards.

BasicQualification:

Bachelors Degree in Applied Science, Biology,Chemistry, Electronics, Mathematics, Engineering, or relateddiscipline including military experience plus 3 years directexperience with repair of laboratory equipment OR Associate Degreein Applied Science, Biology, Chemistry, Electronics, Mathematics,Engineering, or related discipline including military experienceplus 5 years direct experience with repair of laboratory equipmentOR High School Diploma plus 7 years direct experience with repairof laboratory equipment Ability to travel by air, vehicle and/orother means of transportation as business requires. Travel willvary depending on territory requirements and/or customer basetypically up to 50% of the time. (Car, laptop, and phone arecompany provided).

Preferred Qualifications:

Detailed knowledge ofanalytical equipment, laboratory environment, and/or instrumentcontrol software Must have a valid driver’s license. Whileperforming the duties of this position you must always maintainsafe motor vehicle operation Vendor issued certification onrelevant laboratory equipment Knowledge of laboratory safetypractices as defined by the Company and/or the customer’s sitesafety code

Working Environment:

Must be able to work in alaboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protectiveequipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses, etc.) in laboratory. Jobpace may be fast and job completion demands may be high. Must beable to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time.

The person needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors,adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite Frequently operate oninstruments, objects, tools or controls, which will requireregularly bending, squatting, stretching and reaching in order toperform in a service function. Occasionally move or lift up to 25pounds (potential for occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds).Specific vision abilities required by this position include withoutlimitation, the ability to observe details at close range distancevision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, andability to adjust focus in order to perform the essential servicefunctions of this position. Occasionally operates a computer andother office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, andcomputer printer. Employee may be required to handle hazardouswaste according to local, state, and federal regulations. Dutiesmay include identifying, handling, generating, accumulating,storing and labeling hazardous waste. Potential risk to lab-basedhazards including but not limited to extreme temperature,biological materials, and hazardous chemicals. May be required tocomplete Medical Clearance, Respiratory Protection Training, andFit Testing to wear a respirator as protection against hazardspresent in the laboratory environment. The annual compensationrange for this full-time position is $58,760.00 to $87,360.00. Thefinal base pay offered to the successful candidate will bedetermined by factors including internal equity, work location, aswell as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills,experience, and relevant education or training.
