Job Description Primary Objective of Position:

To perform various types of semi-skilled and skilled work and operate equipment involved in the repair and maintenance of city property, including, but not limited to, water and wastewater lines, city facilities, storm sewer systems.

Essential Job Functions:

Perform general repair and maintenance work on City buildings, equipment, grounds, and related facilities within the city limits. Perform semi-skilled and manual work involving grounds maintenance, park/recreational facility maintenance, roadside maintenance, water utilities maintenance, custodial maintenance, or other projects within the assigned division. Assists skilled-trade employees or other workers as needed. Maintain and repair water mains and other issues that come up with water supply. Respond to all complaints of sewer back up immediately. Respond to all complaints and emergencies in a timely manner Perform grounds maintenance or landscaping projects; mowing grass; edging landscaped areas, public areas, parking lots, sidewalks, and fence lines. Hauls garbage, tree limbs, and vegetation to landfill or other designated location Perform maintenance to parks, athletic fields, and recreational facilities as needed; replace and repair tennis nets and volleyball nets; repair playground equipment Miscellaneous cleaning, maintenance and upkeep on City owned buildings. Maintain and service City owned equipment Maintain effective working relationships with other employees, the City Commission, and the public Adhere to safety rules and procedures, work rules and city policies Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor Reports to:

Public Works Supervisor Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent Ability to read, understand and follow written and oral instructions, including safety rules. Ability to drive maintenance vehicles safely Basic computer skills Ability to perform the physical elements of the essential job. Ability to work independently or as a member of a crew. Must successfully pas a background check, and alcohol and drug test. Excellent work history and attendance record

Desirable Qualifications:

Experience working in a municipal public works department Training/Education in maintenance, machinery, mechanics, or related field History of safe work habits and clean driving record

Working Hours/Physical/Environmental Demands:

Regularly works outdoors in all weather conditions. This job requires periods of strenuous activity. May be required to be on-call over nights/weekends and holidays. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use of prosthesis that will enable these senses to function. Significant amounts of standing, walking, moving, carrying, bending, and kneeling will occur.

Vision:

See in the normal range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read printed documents.

Hearing:

Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
