Job Description Water Maintenance Worker Non-Exempt ============================================================== General description of duties Performs technical and manual duties in the Water Department. Repair and maintenance of water system equipment and infrastructure. Supervised by Water Department Supervisor. This is an on-call position. Employee is required to be on-call for after hours, weekend, and holidays. Actual compensation for this position will be determined based on knowledge, skills, abilities and prior experience.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Installation and repair of water meters, water mains, and taps Locate and repair leaks in water lines Turning on water for new and existing customers Flush lines Locating water lines for customers (811) Road maintenance Hydrant maintenance City building maintenance Performs other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent Current Florida Driver’s license in good standing Water/Drinking Water Distribution License or ability to obtain one within a specified time frame

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of irrigation and piping Knowledge of basic landscaping procedures Understanding of safety protocol for tools and equipment Ability to operate and maneuver a variety of heavy construction equipment, including backhoes, to perform excavation, demolition, and material handling tasks Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing Good record keeping skills

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Work in inclement weather Works in noisy conditions, vibrations, and with fumes Works with grease, oils, and solvents Works on slippery and uneven surfaces Works below ground level and with feet, legs or hands in water Moderate lifting, carrying, and pushing (up to 44 pounds) Use of fingers and both hands Climbing using legs and arms Straight pulling and pulling hand over hand Works at heights above ground level up to 25 feet Good vision and depth perception required Ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors Good hearing required Ability to periodically walk, stand, sit, kneel, bend, stoop, crawl, and balance required
