GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and performing maintenance activities to ensure the proper upkeep of airport facilities, grounds, and equipment. This role involves supervising maintenance personnel, coordinating work schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, including scheduling, assigning tasks, and monitoring work performance. Oversee and participate in the maintenance of airport buildings, grounds, airfield lighting, signage, and other infrastructure. Ensure compliance with FAA Part 139 regulations, safety protocols, and airport authority policies. Conduct inspections of airport facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs and initiate corrective actions. Manage preventive maintenance programs for mechanical systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other airport infrastructure. Train and mentor maintenance staff, ensuring adherence to best practices in facility upkeep and safety procedures. Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inventory of tools, materials, and supplies. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers for specialized maintenance and repair projects. Respond to maintenance-related emergencies during and outside of regular work hours as needed. Ensure proper use and care of equipment, tools, and materials used in maintenance operations. Ensure daily inspections are completed, submitted into Aerosimple, and forward any discrepancies to the Air Operations Supervisors. Assist in the writing and briefing of maintenance personnel’s performance appraisals.
JOB STANDARDS
Education:
High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school education is a plus. Additional certifications in maintenance, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC are preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance, facility management, or a related field, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role. Experience in airport or aviation facility maintenance is highly desirable.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:
Valid Florida Driver’s License. Ability to obtain airport security clearance as required.
EQUIPMENT USED
Various vehicles, hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment used in maintenance and facility operations. Specialized airport maintenance equipment, such as airfield lighting systems and snow removal machinery (if applicable).
CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE
Strong leadership and team management skills. Knowledge of facility maintenance methods, procedures, and best practices. Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, and blueprints. Proficiency in operating maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively. Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks efficiently. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to analyze problems and implement effective solutions. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS
Ability to lift moderate items (up to 50 pounds) routinely and heavy items (up to 80 pounds) occasionally. Physical strength and dexterity to move, handle, and operate tools and equipment. Ability to work in various positions, including standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Outdoor and indoor working environments with exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. Potential exposure to loud noise, dust, chemicals, and other hazards associated with airport maintenance and operations.
MARGINAL/SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist in special projects and airport events as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
