The Director, Regional Facilities & Maintenance – Southleads the Network Facilities strategy for assigned Region, leadingthe teams and ensuring local needs are consistently met for plantoperations, maintenance, and property management. The position isresponsible for the development of the site facilities andmaintenance teams within the region into a cohesive, professional,customer-oriented function that strives for continual improvementto enable an integrated, coordinated, and effective approach to themanagement of the physical assets in alignment with networkobjectives. This role reports to the VP, Network Facilities andpartners with senior leadership throughout the region to ensureconsistency, operational strength and flexibility. Ensures a safephysical environment within assigned region and provides regionalleadership and oversight of the Facilities Maintenance/Engineeringteams in accordance with Federal, State, and JCAHO standards and inaccordance with Network policy and procedures. Responsibilities Aday in the life of a Director, Regional Facilities & Maintenance -South at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Responsible forleading and maintaining network strategy within assigned region,leading the team, making key decisions, and aligning withoperational needs. Work with senior leadership throughout thenetwork to ensure operational strength and flexibility.
- Developsrelationships and builds trust with a diverse set of stakeholders,including staff, faculty, students, trustees, consultants, membersof the community, and state and local officials.
- Collaborateswith senior leadership within assigned region in developing plansfor delivering effective and efficient services relating to theoperation and maintenance of the campus.
- Plans, organizes,directs and evaluates the performance of the areas of directresponsibility and other departments as assigned.
- Providesgeneral leadership to Director, Facilities at assigned sites incontinuing to evolve standards as a service-oriented, professional,and efficient facilities function, capable of addressing thediverse needs of each campus/site.
- Develops plans for assignedregion to carry out activities of services within JCAHO and StateDepartment of Health standards.
- Recommends policy and procedurechanges in conjunction with short- and long-range plans, problems,systems, and goals including planning for new facilities, utilitiesmanagement, etc
- Involved in the development and/or management ofbudget for assigned areas. Regularly monitors relevant keyfinancial indicators and performance metrics, modifying businessactivities where needed in response to changing financialsituations.
- Ensures that the EOC meets all regulatory standardsin alignment with Medical Center and network policies andprocedures including, but not limited to: orientation, equipmentand compliance, accident/incident reports, OSHA regulations, andannual safety/emergency preparedness training.
- Ensures that siteswithin assigned region meet all JCAHO and NJ DOH regulatorycompliance for Maintenance/Engineering/EOC as evidenced by no majorcitations.
- In coordination with VP, Network Facilities &Maintenance, VP, Sustainability and Energy Mgmt team, lead effortsto steward HMH resources effectively and efficiently in support ofthe sustainability and energy commitments and in compliance withlocal, state, and federal regulations governing facilityoperations, renovations and facilities management.
- Leads anddirects Directors, Facilities at sites within assigned region.
Provides feedback and training to staff and leadership regardingareas of expertise. Works with staff to resolve issues as theyarise. Ensures the effective and efficient utilization of humanresources.
- Participates in union contract renewal negotiations.
- Oversees and may participate in the development of RFPs, contracts,proposals for goods and services, and the management of serviceproviders and vendors.
- Delegates assignments to professionalstaff members and supervises their work as needed to ensure qualityresults.
- Participate in local or network committees as needed.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMHOrganizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering,Architecture or related field and/or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 8 or more years of experience in healthcare/facilitymaintenance or healthcare operations in a progressively responsibleleadership role.
- Proven ability to lead teams across multiplelocations and manage multiple projects.
- Working Knowledge ofcodes and policies, (TJC, FGI, and NFPA), for hospital andambulatory care areas.
- In depth knowledge of OSHA and JCAHOregulations.
- Excellent technical, management, organizational,interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
- A trackrecord of success establishing a vision for facilities-managementservices that advances mission, maximizes efficiency and return oninvestment, and demonstrates effective stewardship of assets.
- Demonstrated success advising senior leadership and trustees onstrategic investments in physical-plant assets and in the resourcesnecessary to optimize them in a complex environment.
- Demonstratedcompetency in assessing, analyzing and utilizing data for purposeof obtaining information necessary for effective decision makingand performance improvement processes.
- Prior experience withunion contract negotiations.
- Prior project management experience.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Mastersdegree.
