Maintenance Manager Department :

Maintenance Reports to : Warehouse Manager Position Overview The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of the facility, ensuring the functionality, safety, and efficiency of all machinery, equipment, and infrastructure within the cold storage environment. This role involves managing a team of maintenance technicians, scheduling preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment failures, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities Team Leadership :

Supervise and direct the activities of the maintenance team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and operational guidelines.

Preventive Maintenance :

Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all warehouse machinery, refrigeration systems, forklifts, conveyor belts, and other equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.

Troubleshooting & Repairs :

Diagnose equipment malfunctions and oversee or perform repairs in a timely manner to ensure minimal disruption to warehouse operations. Coordinate with vendors for specialized repairs if needed.

Facility Management :

Oversee the maintenance of the building infrastructure, including lighting, plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical systems. Ensure the cold storage environment is maintained at optimal conditions.

Safety Compliance :

Ensure that all equipment and maintenance activities comply with OSHA regulations and company safety standards. Implement safety training for the maintenance team and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Inventory & Supplies :

Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies needed for repairs and maintenance. Ensure timely ordering and stock replenishment.

Vendor Coordination :

Manage relationships with external vendors, including negotiating contracts and overseeing service agreements for outsourced maintenance and repairs.

Documentation :

Keep detailed records of all maintenance activities, including equipment service logs, repairs, and inspections. Generate reports on equipment performance, downtime, and maintenance costs.

Process Improvement :

Continuously assess maintenance processes and equipment performance to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Emergency Response :

Coordinate emergency repairs and ensure prompt response to unexpected equipment failures or safety hazards. Be on call for urgent maintenance needs outside regular working hours.

Qualifications Education :

High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree or certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field is a plus.

Experience :

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a maintenance or technical role, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Experience in cold storage or food logistics is preferred.

Skills :

Strong mechanical and technical skills, with knowledge of electrical, refrigeration, and HVAC systems. Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of warehouse equipment. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a team effectively. Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards (OSHA, etc.). Proficiency in maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word). Forklift certification is a plus. Must have experience with Crown Forklift, dock/freezer door repairs Physical Requirements Ability to work in cold storage environments with temperatures as low as -20°F. Must be able to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders for extended periods.
