CNC Operator – 179027 3.2 3.2 out of 5 stars Portland, TN 37148 We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Programmer/Operator to help oversee and coordinate the daily operations of our CNC machining department. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in CNC programming and machining, proven skills, and a commitment to quality, efficiency, and safety. This role ensures production goals are met while maintaining high standards of workmanship and optimizing resource utilization.

Pay:

$30.77 – $32.69/hour

Shift:

Onsite – Monday to Friday 8am-5pm Central time.

Key Responsibilities:

Support a team of CNC machinists and operators across multiple shifts to ensure seamless operations. Assist with CNC machining processes to meet strict production deadlines and fulfill customer requirements. Review blueprints, engineering drawings, and production schedules to determine precise setup procedures, machining sequences, and part dimensions. Set up and operate CNC machines as needed to maintain productivity or troubleshoot complex challenges. Identify and resolve machining, programming, and tooling issues to minimize downtime and maintain output efficiency. Uphold company policies, enforce safety protocols, and ensure compliance with established quality standards. Coach and support the training of new team members to foster a skilled and knowledgeable workforce. Collaborate closely with engineering, quality control, and maintenance teams to streamline workflow and production. Manage inventory of tools and materials required for CNC operations, ensuring optimal supply levels. Proactively identify opportunities to improve machining processes, reduce operational costs, and drive productivity gains.

Job Requirements:

A High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree or technical certification in machining or manufacturing is preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in CNC machining. Proficient in reading technical drawings and blueprints. Strong understanding of G-code programming and CNC machine controls (Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, etc.). Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement practices. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to lead by example in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and shop floor management software is a plus. Strong understanding of Solidworks and/or other CAD/CAM softwares.

Working Conditions:

Manufacturing floor and office environment. May require standing for long periods and occasional lifting of materials. Protective equipment must be worn as required.
