Job Description Amentum is seeking a Controls/CNC Technician IIIto join our 1st Shift industrial maintenance team in Lafayette, IN.Typical work schedule is Monday

  • Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00pm; hoursmay vary based on business demand. This position is responsible foracting as a subject matter expert in troubleshooting, servicing,and documenting the electrical and controls needs of process /production equipment in an industrial environment.
  • Understandsand participates in control systems, monitor/read ladder logic /PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc, GE, MicroLogix, ControlLogix,and PLC-5) and HMI.
  • Works with Allen Bradley, controls, andinstrumentation such as thermocouples and transducers, as well asprimary voltages up to and including 480v.
  • Provides instruction,mentors and trains less skilled technicians as needed.
  • Effectively communicates with the site management team and thecustomer to understand requirements, solve electrical problems, andprovide solutions to manufacturing problems
  • Demonstrates abilityto identify and correct any safety-related issues and performindependent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipmentfailures.
  • Performs General Maintenance of equipment as required.

/n Must be self-motivated and demonstrate the strongorganizational/time management skills needed to be successful inthis role.

Responsibilities:
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, maintains,and repairs process/production machines, equipment, and relatedelectrical equipment, such as electrical control circuits from 24vup to and including 480v AC, electro-mechanical test devices,instrumentation devices, PLCs / ladder logic controllers, andvariable frequency drives as necessary.
  • Procures parts from cribsystems, OEM or authorized vendors.
  • Identifies and documents costsavings.
  • Utilizes strong mechanical and electrical skills inorder to complete assignments.
  • Monitors site operationsprocedures for equipment and recommends facilities reliabilityimprovements.
  • Performs preventive maintenance onprocess/production equipment as scheduled in the ComputerizedMaintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Responds and providesservice and feedback to the customer on all work orders whileassuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.
  • Recommends activities to improve maintenance methods and equipmentperformance.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assistsworkers in solving work problems.
  • Understands company policiesand enforces safety regulations. Safely performs functions of theposition including following proper safety guidelines such as jobhazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE asrequired.
  • Operates various measuring, diagnostic and testinginstruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
  • Operatesa variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers anddiagnostic hardware to perform work.
  • Maintains a strict scheduleto be successful in the assignment yet demonstrates flexibility inthe day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of thecustomer.
  • Exhibits skills such as motivation, time management,ownership, well-developed organizational skills, excellentcommunication skills, etc.
  • Promotes and adheres to the AmentumSafety Structure.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager orSupervisor
  • Assist with Root Cause Analysis.

MinimumRequirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of experienceperforming mechanical maintenance and repair on productionequipment in an industrial environment or demonstrated equivalentcombination of education and experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting CNC machine tools and other complex mechanical systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting robotic control systems, such as Fanuc,ABB, etc.
  • Must have the ability to work in an aerial lift orscissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
  • Must be a U.S.Citizen /n Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates degree ortechnical certification in Industrial Technology, IndustrialMechanical, or related technical program. Jobequivalence/experience is considered.
  • Experience diagnosing,troubleshooting, and repairing industrial production systems suchas conveyors, Harpoon systems, Coolant systems to OEMspecifications.
  • Experience with alignments and timing machinesusing Precision calibration tools.
  • Experience diagnosing,troubleshooting, and repairing pumps, motors, gearboxes, supply andexhaust fans, power transmission components, hydraulic andpneumatic systems,
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairingcranes and hoists.
  • Experience utilizing measurement tools such asmicrometers, dial indicators, various type gauges, and calibers toset tolerances to OEM Specifications.
  • Must be willing to workovertime when required.
