Roll Machine Operator Berger US, Inc. – 2.0 Trussville, AL Job Details Full-time From $17 an hour 2 days ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off 401(k) matching Life insurance Referral program Qualifications Machine operation Measuring instruments Attention to detail Micrometer Communication skills Entry level Full Job Description 1) Set up machines (Allotted 45 minutes for completion) a) Assemble all tooling b) Adjust tooling and machine settings to form acceptable parts c) Alert supervisor immediately when an acceptable ring is ready 2) Control and adjust machine settings during production run (e.g. length) 3) Feed raw material into machine and load onto de-coiler if necessary. a) Must alert forklift operator or supervisor of material needs before running completely out. . 4) Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools a) Rings must be measured with the following items. i) Length Tape (1 measurement per 25-50 parts) ii) Profile Template (1 measurement per 100 parts) iii) Micrometer (2 measurements of each coil) 5) Fix issues that might occur during the shift a) Operators are required to fix minor issues that occur during the shift (i.e. replace broken cutter blades, bolts, etc.) b) Alert supervisor of any issues that need to be addressed for safe operation of the machinery. Operators will be held accountable for operating unsafely. 6) Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws (i.e. shark’s teeth, slivers on ring, etc.) 7) Keep records of approved and defective units or final products 8) Accurately maintain activity logs 9) Operators should always strive to maintain a minimum 2 rack buffer of rolled rings a) Welding machines should always have rings available for welding 10) Operator to load parts and rings for welder operators. Welders should not stop. a) If approaching a changeover, it is the responsibility of the operator to alert supervisor so that another operator can be selected to load parts. b) If a welder is idle a roll machine operator may be required to step in and weld. 11) Operation time is as follows a) At start of shift, machine is to begin production immediately b) At shift end, machine is to be stopped 10 minutes prior to end of shift and cleaned. 12) Daily housekeeping is required a) Floor around machine is to be swept completely b) Steel slugs and shavings should be placed into recycling hopper c) Trash around machine is to be thrown in trash can d) Loose debris and oil to be wiped from surfaces of machine with rag 13) Preventive Maintenance may be required as needed a) Supervisors may request that preventive maintenance be performed during shift or on overtime
