Hour Job Summary:

The SMT Operator will program surface mount machines for the assembly of printed circuit boards in accordance with customer requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Sets up jobs and operates surface mount machines. Programs surface mount machines for production of jobs. Participates in and coordinates committee activities as needed. Performs any and all assembly requirements in the SMT Department as needed. Works in a productive, efficient manner so the production schedules of the Company are met. Works with Inspection and Test Departments, as necessary, to ensure customer product requirements are met. Performs job duties in compliance with the Company’s Quality System. Makes process improvement recommendations as appropriate. Communicates equipment maintenance needs to the SMT Group Leader. Maintains an organized and neat work area. Ensures the SMT Department is in compliance with the Company’s Quality System. Participates in internal and external quality system audits as needed. Other duties as required or assigned.

Education and Experience:

Diploma or GED from an accredited high school or technical school required. Degree preferred.

Minimum:

One (1) years’ experience as a SMT Operator including programming equipment in an electronic contract manufacturing, electronic high tech, or related industry.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Able to identify electronic components. Able to read complicated electronic assembly drawings. Knowledge of hand, surface mount, and through-hole assembly methods for electronic printed circuit board assembly. Knowledge of

Solderability Standards.

IPC-A-610

certification a plus. Excellent surface mount techniques including soldering at the surface mount component level. Universal equipment knowledge is a plus. Demonstrated effective analysis and corrective action implementation techniques. Proficient use of windows-based computer programs. Able to speak, read, write and understand English as it relates to performing job requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to operate surface mount machines primarily in a standing position. Regularly required to lift, carry or otherwise transport materials in racks weighing up to 25 lbs. Regularly required to lift, carry, push, drag or otherwise transport materials in bins weighing up to 50 lbs. Use of magnifying lights and other magnifying aids may be required.

Work Environment:

Works in a climate-controlled assembly facility.
