About the role:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Knitting Machine Attendant / Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and optimization of industrial knitting machines to ensure peak performance and product quality. Responsibilities include operating knitting machines, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical issues, performing preventive maintenance, monitoring machine performance, and ensuring adherence to product specifications. Additionally, the role involves inspecting product quality and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities:
Operate and attend knitting machines for production, as well as maintain and troubleshoot as required Read and interpret work orders, specifications, quality requirements, and operating procedures. Ensure all machines run at full capacity and meet product specifications. Set up machines according to required specifications. Inspect products for defects in an organized and timely manner. Investigate machine issues by assessing symptoms, observing performance, and conducting tests. Resolve identified problems by replacing faulty components, adjusting settings, or making necessary structural fixes. Document repair work to minimize downtime and improve efficiency Conduct product quality inspections to verify compliance with product standards. Assemble boxes and count materials as required. Use RF scanners to track inventory and update records in NetSuite. Conduct regular inspections, adjustments, and part replacements to prevent mechanical failures. Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting, adjusting, and replacing machine parts. Complete repair and maintenance logs and order parts as required. Participate in cross-training to support other production areas and warehouse where needed. Maintain a clean and safe work area following safety protocols. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent with at least two years of experience in a mechanical maintenance position. Mechanical aptitude with experience in machine operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance, including the ability to strip and rebuild knitting machines. Previous experience in a manufacturing or factory setting with the ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently. Ability to lift to 40 lbs. WHMIS and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) certifications. Basic computer and math skills, along with good hand-eye coordination Familiarity with hand and power tools. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow specifications. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while demonstrating effective communication and teamwork skills. Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment, with strong observational skills to detect machine malfunctions and quality issues. Valid passport; must be willing and able to travel.
