This role is based at our facility in Pineville, North Carolina.

JOB PURPOSE

The extrusion lead is responsible for leading the Extrusion, Wrapping and Utility departments for the purposes of pipe production. These activities are to be conducted while ensuring and maximizing safety, product quality, production output, housekeeping and cost control to achieve plant goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ALL OPERATORS 1.

Support and comply with EH&S policies and procedures as communicated and documented in compliance with

EH&S/ISMS 1.0 & 2.0. 2.

Maintain acceptable housekeeping, environmental and safe working conditions as defined and monitored through

EH&S/ISMS 4.0. 3.

Support and comply with the efforts of the Joint, Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) as defined in

EH&S/ISMS 8.0. 4.

Attend and participate in monthly employee meetings as scheduled and defined in

EH&S/ISMS 10.0. 5.

Report all accidents/incidents to the supervisor immediately. Cooperate, participate, and provide information during the accident/incident investigation upon request in compliance with

EH&S/ISMS 11.0. 6.

Inspect and report potential unsafe/hazardous conditions in compliance with

EH&S/ISMS 12.0. 7.

Use all protective guards and devices, and report any absence or defect in any equipment or device in compliance with

EH&S/ISMS 13.0. 8.

Wear and use personal protective equipment appropriately as defined and required by

EH&S/ISMS 14.0. 9.

Report non-conformances in any lockout equipment and/or device, and do not attempt to operate or energize any machine, equipment, or process when it is locked and tagged out in compliance with

EH&S/ISMS 19.0. 10.

Comply with working at heights requirements as defined in

EH&S/ISMS 20.0. 11.

Report all injuries/accidents/incidents regardless of how minor, and document the use of first aid supplies as required by

EH&S/ISMS 21.0. 12.

Provide documentation and comply with Claims Management and Modified/Restricted Work requirements when applicable and as defined in

EH&S/ISMS 24.0. 13.

Participate and comply with New Hire/Promotion Orientation as defined in

2 of 3 15. Comply and support the hazardous condition program by reading labels and MSDS’s, following warnings, precautions and work instructions, using the correct personal protective equipment, learning emergency procedures, and practicing safe work habits in compliance with

EH&S/ISMS 28. 16.

Comply with mobile equipment safe working practices and guidelines including pre-use inspections in compliance with

EH&S/ISMS 32.0. 18.

Know, understand and comply with all emergency preparedness procedures as defined in compliance with

Comply and support EH&S goals and objectives as defined in compliance with

Immediately report any unsafe practices/conditions to your Shift Supervisor and work in accordance with safety rules/policies/work procedures in compliance with

Comply with all policies, procedures and work practices as outlined by the HR Best Practices – USA, the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and EH&S programs at all times. 22. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES FOR LEAD 1.

Fulfill the requirements as specified in A-Operator Training Document D-EX-10. The duties include but are not limited to following. 2. Check all production lines to ensure that production is running according to manufacturing specification at required rates and at the best possible quality. 3. Ensure all print lines are accurate for the product running and include operator initials. 4. Ensure all operators are completing necessary paperwork and measurements when required. 5. Ensure all paperwork including prestart check sheets are completed and turned in at the end of each shift. 6. Ensure all scrap is removed from production floor at the end of each shift. 7. Complete tours of the plant floor and end of shift paperwork as required. 8. Startup and/or assist with startup of extrusion lines as needed. 9. Assist the Supervisor in oversight of the Extrusion, Fabrication, and Utility departments and personnel. 10. Direct operators as needed as directed by Supervisor and/or Management staff to maximize equipment utilization, minimize scrap, maximize regrind usage, maintain superior quality and to maintain adequate housekeeping standards.

COMPLEXITY AND JUDGMENT

Regularly encounters problems that involve multiple-choice options, but through prior exposure, experience and established procedures/policies can determine the most appropriate course of action. Work involves both routine and non-routine tasks within well-defined standards. Requirements

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE A

high school degree or equivalent is required with the ability to read, write and do basic math. Must have the ability to use basic hand tools and operate a forklift.

RESPONSIBILITY

The Extrusion Lead reports to the Extrusion Shift Supervisor. The Extrusion Shift Supervisor directs work instructions. Leadhands do have the authority to direct, lead, and adjust work assignments within defined limits. The Extrusion Shift Supervisor reports to the Extrusion Production Manager. The Extrusion Production Manager reports to the Pineville Extrusion Plant Manager.

CONTACTS

The incumbent interacts daily with Supervisory and Leadhand personnel. Daily interaction may be required with Die Set-up, Quality Control, Utility, and Maintenance personnel. Occasional contact may be required with other departments.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The physical effort required is considerable due to heavy physical activities of various kinds. The physical environment is considered moderate due to exposure to various substances or equipment that could produce discomfort and/or moderate risk of accident or ill health. The sensory attention is considered moderate due to often requiring increased demand on two or more senses at a time. The mental stress is considered moderate due to regular pressures from deadlines, quotas and accuracy.
