ESSENTIAL TASKS

+ Assist, direct, check and instruct a group of departmental personnel engaged in a variety of operations such asgrinding, peeling, polishing, and shot blast, inspection and cutting in Billet Conditioning. + Maintain work records, schedules, reports and perform any conditioning duties as required. + Responsible for safety, quality, material identification, storage and production for one of three operations / equipment groups in Conditioning. 1 = Grinders old conditioning / band saws 2 = Grinders new conditioning building / shot blast / abrasive saw. 3 = Peel / polish/ abrasive saw / inspect Each lead operator will be asked to move from one work center to another as requested by management. + Work in bottleneck areas, relieve breaks, movement of material including loading and unloading of equipment, follow established schedules to meet on time delivery, manage product to meet customer requirements reporting any deviations to work leader or supervisor. + Responsible for storage and shipment of grindings, shot blast fines, saw swarf, peeler chips, polish swarf, bandsaw chips. + Responsible for relieving breaks, controlling, and improving supply cost of all operations in the Conditioning Department. + Be responsive in managing departmental improvement projects as assigned by management. + Set-up and operate or assist with set-up and operation of all Billet Conditioning operations. + Must be certified both written and practical on each operation that is in the work group. + Assist the training / safety coordinator in training of new employees as requested. + Report on cause and corrective actions for all nonconforming [DDR] that result in operator error and equipment malfunctions. + Report on all variances from standard machine hours and yield. APAD 1 variance + Report any variations from standards to supervision in relation to safety, quality, cost, production or employee behavior.

NON-ESSENTIAL TASKS

+ Ensure that operating supplies are available in the area when needed. + Maintain conditioning building and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. + Perform other duties as required by supervisor. Preferred Skills + Ability to direct, plan and schedule work activities. + Ability to read and follow written instructions and procedures. + Use gauges and measuring devices. + Basic knowledge of mechanic and hydraulics to understand how machine functions.
