Gearbox-Motors Assembly Technician The client is hiring numerous Motors/Gearbox Assembly Techniciansto overhaul and rebuild locomotive gears. We are responsible fordisassembling, cleaning, repairing and reassembling componentsaccording to drawings and guidelines to ensure productspecifications and quality standards are met. We inspect and adjustcompleted motors to ensure they meet specifications, tolerances,and customer order requirements. We have a training and developmentplan waiting for you!
Responsibilities:
Attach gearbox housing and couplings to build stand. Install gears, bearings and housings. Measure for accurate clearances using calibrated instrument (depthgauge, caliper, micrometer, etc). Install spacers and covers and various fasteners, plugs, andhardware Demount gearbox from build stand. Inspect, test (if applicable), and adjust completed units to ensurethat units meet specifications, tolerances, and customer orderrequirements. Assemble parts or units, and position, align, and fasten units toassemblies, subassemblies, or frames. Disassemble units to replaceparts or to crate them for shipping. Position, align, and adjust parts for accurate fit andassembly. Attach name plates and mark identifying information on parts. Measure parts to determine tolerances, using precision measuringinstruments such as micrometers, calipers, and verniers. Inspectparts for surface defects. Align, fit, or assemble component parts, using hand or power tools,fixtures, templates, or microscopes. Verify part dimensions or clearances to ensure conformance tospecifications, using precision measuring instruments. Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints,specifications, work orders, bills of materials, or reports todetermine materials requirements or assembly instructions. Explain assembly procedures or techniques to other workers. Clean working areas and parts, using cleaning solutions, air hoses,and cloths. Inventory tools. Drill or tap holes in specified equipment locations. Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan or review workactivities or to resolve production problems. Conduct 6S audits and safety walks. Participate in work groups / projects in order to inform oneselfand to provide information to the others and to optimize processesand workflows. Knowledge:
Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and theirapplications. Knowledge of environmental health and safety laws andprocedures. Knowledge of product, workmanship standards, and assemblyprocedures. Basic knowledge of computer software applications. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control,costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effectivemanufacture and distribution of goods. Knowledge of machines, power tools, and hand tools, including theirdesigns, uses, repair, and operator level maintenance. Knowledge of basic lean principles and techniques for optimizingprocesses and eliminating waste.

Requirements:
HS diploma or equivalent Extensive experience with electromechanical assembly Extensive Wiring experience Direct assembly experience reading and interpreting schematicdrawings Ability to physically lift 35 pounds Ability to communicate effectively in English (read, speak,write) Ability to collaborate successfully in a team-orientedenvironment Ability to learn and process information quickly and execute taskssuccessfully Ability to work safely and to operate power tools and equipment ina safe manner
Preferences:
Extensive experience with electro mechanical assembly Must be able to read complex schematics There will be a technical test as a part of the hiring process
