Overview :
Hornet Steel Buildings, Inc is seeking a results-driven Plant Manager responsible for leading and managing the daily operations of the manufacturing facility, ensuring continuous support for safety, quality and productivity. This role requires collaboration with upper management through full transparency to develop and implement long-term strategies that align with both individual and organizational goals. It also includes managing personnel and fostering a positive culture and work environment. Budget management, performance analysis, and compliance with regulations are integral aspects. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills to optimize plant performance. Responsibilities 1. Safety Foster a safe and healthy work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors. Ensure compliance with safety policies, PPE use, emergency preparedness, and hazard reporting. Conduct and review regular safety audits and assessments. Support ongoing safety training and promote awareness across all levels. Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. 2. Quality Oversee product quality to ensure compliance with company standards and customer expectations. Manage quality assurance through regular audits, testing, and root-cause analysis. Provide leadership and direction to the quality control team. Represent the facility during third-party audits with accuracy and professionalism. Track and report quality metrics while addressing issues with proactive solutions. Promote a culture of precision and customer focus. 3. Performance Improvement Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and support profitability. Lead initiatives focused on operational excellence and customer satisfaction. Analyze KPIs such as safety, scrap, throughput, and cost to identify areas for improvement. Apply lean manufacturing principles to maximize output and reduce costs. Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement throughout the plant. 4. Production Manage all production operations to meet schedule, quality, and performance targets. Establish clear production goals and oversee shift scheduling and workflow. Monitor inventory, allocate resources effectively, and minimize downtime. Collaborate with departments including sales, engineering, supply chain, and HR to align priorities. Utilize knowledge of materials, equipment, and production processes to guide operations . 5. Staff Management Lead and develop a high-performing team by setting clear expectations and offering consistent support. Oversee hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance evaluations. Address personnel matters with professionalism and consistency. Encourage employee growth through training and succession planning. Maintain open communication and foster a respectful, accountable workplace culture. Qualifications Prior leadership experience in steel building systems, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments preferred. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and a demonstrated commitment to safety. Familiarity with steel fabrication processes, production equipment, and materials. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive performance. Strategic and analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills. High attention to detail and a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Experience with LEAN, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies preferred. Comfortable using performance data and KPIs to guide decision-making. Skilled in cross-departmental collaboration and operational planning. Understanding of supply chain logistics, materials management, and inventory control. Minimal travel required; role is primarily on-site. Physical Requirements • Ability to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment with frequent walking and standing (8-10 hours per day). Able to climb stairs and ladders, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces or at heights as needed. Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Good visual acuity for inspections, documentation review, and process oversight (corrective lenses permitted). Willing to wear required PPE including steel-toed boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection. Able to respond promptly to emergency situations and navigate the facility safely. Occasional travel may be required to other sites or for vendor meetings. Comfortable balancing floor supervision with office-based administrative work .
