Job Description

FGD (Flue Gas Desulfurization) Attendant 3.1 3.1 out of 5 stars 313 Keystone Dr, Shelocta, PA 15774 The FGD Attendant will be responsible for activities related to the operation and maintenance of the Flue Gas Desulfurization Scrubber and associated water treatment facilities at a coal-fired 1700 MW plant. The position requires multi-skilled ability. The incumbent will be required to ensure the safe operation of equipment used in the scrubber process. The position requires repair of equipment; controls; and instrumentation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ability to perform the duties of the position in a safe manner. Efficiently operates equipment, reports, and document any irregularities in the performance of such equipment and institutes any steps which may be necessary to correct these conditions. Responsible for maintaining required logs and records, monitoring and making the required adjustments to FGD equipment, as appropriate, for operating conditions. Performs equipment isolation and tagging. Performs skilled electro-mechanical repair work on scrubber and water treating equipment and instrumentation such as absorber vessels, pumps, valves and controls Communicate conditions of the facility and equipment to others Operate computers and printers Discern and respond to verbal and auditory signals from operating system Work without direct supervision while carrying out duties Knowledge and ability to operate various switches and controls and the effect each has on the overall operation Sets up rigging for installing/removing equipment and operates forklifts, manlifts, etc. Meet physical requirements of the job such as performing tasks while standing, walking, climbing and squatting. Work with extended reach above head and in front of body and lift 50 pounds and carry while walking distances of up to 100 feet. Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toed shoes, hardhats, and eye and hearing protection. Two years post-secondary education obtained from an accredited school in power plants, mechanical or electrical curriculum is desired. Related military experience is acceptable. In lieu of education, three years industrial related experience is acceptable. Successful completion of entry-level exam and the FGD Attendant Entry Level Test. Successful candidate will work as part of a team and ensure they are operating economically, efficiently, safely and within state/federal compliance at all times. Able to use mechanical tooling to accomplish repairs of equipment. Understanding of basic electrical theory. Understanding of basic cause and effect logic. Competent computer skills. Problem solving skills Must be available for call-outs/emergencies. Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. CAMS offers a variety of excellent benefits.
