Job Description
Education/Experience Minimum Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
GI Technical Specialist (GTS) online course completion through the Society of Gastrointestinal Assistants (SGNA) Previous patient care experience
License/Certification Minimum Required:
Certification as a flexible endoscope reprocessor through CBSPD or IAHCSMM within 18 months of hire
Preferred:
CPR Certification Current NYS Practical Nurse License or Permit Work Environment Lifting heavy objects; must be able to lift minimum of 50 lbs. Potential burns from steam sterilizers. Potential exposure to blood and body fluids. Potential punctures from sharp instruments. Potential punctures from contaminated sharps/instruments. Work in a small confined space. Potential falls from water on floor.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Technicians are required to wear fullface shields, bonnet to cover hair, gloves and impervious gowns in the decontamination area. Hot mitt gloves are to be worn to prevent sterilizer burns.
