Job Description
Wastewater Operator Town of Camden Wastewater Department 20 Lions Lane, Camden, ME 04843 The Camden Wastewater Department, on the beautiful coast of Maine, is looking for a motivated Operator to join our team. The Wastewater department provides an essential service to our community while protecting the local environment. It’s a hands-on position where you can see the results of your efforts every day. Our plant is a secondary biological treatment facility that’s permitted to treat 1.2 million gallons per day. If you love science or you’re mechanically inclined this is the place for you. If you have experience in wastewater treatment that’s fantastic, if not we’re happy to train a candidate who is motivated and excited to learn.
Plant operators are responsible for:
- Collect wastewater samples and perform laboratory testing.
- Perform preventative maintenance on plant and pump station equipment.
- Monitor treatment processes and make modifications when needed.
- Inspect and maintain the sewer collection system.
- Be available for on-call duty one week a month. The Town of Camden offers competitive pay, a great work life balance, and excellent benefits, including:

The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or GED, and have a Maine driver’s license. Additionally, a State of Maine Wastewater Operator’s Grade I License is required or will need to be obtained within 18 months of employment. Training for the Grade I license may be completed at work and will be paid for by the Town.
