Requirements:
- Weld area prep and cleanup, both mechanically and/or chemically.
- Weld joint prep by mechanical means.
- Weld reinforcement removal, both mechanically and/or chipping.
- Ability to fit large parts according to blueprints. Need to be able to read metric and standard tape measure.
- Use of both electric and pneumatic hand tools.
- Use of sledge and dead blow hammers of all sizes.
- Being able to pass welding test.

Tig Welding Training Requirements:
General Safety Quality System Awareness Weld Certifications Blueprint Reading Geometric, dimension, tolerance, and symbol training Measuring instruments, both standard and metric Visual Acuity eye exam Jaeger 2 or higher.
Physical Demands:
- Some physical exertion required.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, kneel, walk and occasionally bend and move about the facility.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Climbing ladders, steps, and scaffolding may be required.
- Rigging and flipping large weldments Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- Safety glasses required.
- Hearing protection required in designated areas.
- Steel toe shoes required.
- Welding helmet/shield (both tack welding and welding)
- Welding gloves and hand heat shields
- Long sleeve shirts – in lieu of long sleeve shirts, weld jackets, weld sleeves, leathers, and aprons may be used.
- Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) may be required for certain applications.
A 3M 8515
Welding Respirator N95, or equivalent, may be required.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The manufacturing floor exposes all employees to grinder dust, sparks, weld flashes, fumes, and other airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment will range from moderate to loud.
- Work performed in a manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, chemical and other elements.
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
Successful completion of internal weld tests Five years welding experience or completion of Technical School related course plus two years’ experience
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS
Proficient in assigned welding techniques. Interpretation of mechanical drawings, including weld requirement symbols. Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys, aluminum, and some exotic materials Working knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.) Standard work schedule is Monday – Friday 8 hours. 6:00 A.M – 2:30 P.M. Overtime may be required at times.
- Ability to fit large parts according to blueprints.
- Conventional and precision measuring instruments
- Process inspection, certification, and documentation
- Welding equipment maintenance
- Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools.
- Safety and housekeeping
- Other duties as assigned by the area supervisor.
