Steelworks of the Carolinas is seeking a dependable and skilled Structural Steel Welder to join our second-shift team. The ideal candidate takes pride in their craft, can work independently with minimal supervision, and embodies our core values: Safety, Workmanship, Others, and Character (SWOC). This position plays a critical role in assembling and welding structural steel components accurately and efficiently. Attention to detail, reliability, and a strong work ethic are essential.

Requirements:

Must be authorized to work in the United States Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision Must be able to read and interpret shop drawings (or willing to learn) Must be safety-conscious and committed to maintaining a clean, organized work environment Previous structural welding experience preferred (1/16″ flux-core wire)

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform flux core welding on various structural joints using 1/16″ (.062) wire Clean welds thoroughly—remove slag and spatter using chipping hammers and wire brushes Prepare welds for visual and/or special inspection Identify and correct weld distortion Accurately read and interpret weld symbols (or be willing to learn) Stencil all welded parts with assigned identification numbers Assist fitters as needed in setup and layout Perform repairs on welds not meeting quality standards Use essential fabrication tools including: Tape measure Oxy-fuel torch Carbon arc gouger Stud welding machine Grinder Overhead crane Basic weld inspection tools Uphold and model the Steelworks values and ethics (SWOC) daily Support supervisors and team members to meet daily production goals
