Assistant Director of Community Engagement & AdvocacY Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Community Engagement & Advocacy will lead agency-wide efforts that serve to further BOOM!Health’s community organizing, advocacy and mobilization priorities in alignment with the agency’s vision/mission and strategic priorities. The Assistant Director will cultivate new and existing relationships with BOOM!Health participants and our partners in the community, including other community based organizations, healthcare providers, elected/government officials, and advocacy groups. Primary Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Ensure Access Health program meets program deliverables Supervise advocacy/community engagement team members Plan and organize public events such as community meetings, workshops, trainings, and policy briefings. Cultivate and maintain relationships with coalition members, government officials, allied organizations, and other community stakeholders of the Bronx and New York City. Represent BOOM!Health on local and statewide coalitions. Prepare monthly and quarterly reports that track activities, progress, and accomplishments Lead revitalization of Participant and Consumer Advisory Boards. Build and improve participant/client communication mechanisms. Create opportunities for participant-led programming and events. Ensure appropriate social media presence is maintained at all times Strengthen and maintain advocacy as a core value of the organizational culture. Mentor advocacy among staff, peer advocates and program participants/clients. Foster teambuilding and advocacy/communications skill development. Prepare budget documents as requested by funding source Prepare vouchers when needed and or collaborate with finance team Review program documents completed by team under supervision Provide supervision and guidance to advocacy department Assist in hiring program staff Ensure all programs deliverables are met by contracts under supervision(BHAN, Access Health) Assist grant writing team in order to secure future funding. Complete other duties as assigned by SVP and CEO.

Qualifications/Criteria:

Minimum of four years of experience working with special populations, including communities of color, the LGBTQ community, people living with HIV and HCV, active drug users and the homeless. Deep understanding of and commitment to harm reduction theory and practice. Demonstrated commitment to advocacy/activism, particularly in the areas of HIV/AIDS, HCV, homelessness and drug policy. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Exceptional organizational skills, including program documentation. Knowledge of and experience with policy analysis, coalition building and stakeholder relations.

Education:
