$29K – $33.1K a year 1 day ago Qualifications Entry level Full Job Description As a member of our hospitality team, the primary responsibility of a Stagehand II is to provide support to the Production Manager and Technicians on various projects, productions, and events at the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre. This role primarily works backstage or behind the scenes, before, during, and after performances, to ensure the smooth setup of scenery, lights, sound equipment, props, wardrobe, and special effects for stage productions, conventions, and concerts. A crucial part of this role is to be proficient in all the functions of a Stagehand I, which involve general stage setup and maintenance tasks. Set up scenery, lights, sound, props, rigging, and special effects for productions, ensuring all elements are in place and functioning properly. Assist in the assembly and disassembly of show productions, coordinating with the production team for a seamless process. Load and unload trucks with production equipment, carefully handling valuable items to avoid damage. Assemble production equipment on the stage, ensuring proper placement and functionality. Perform stage carpentry work, including building and dismantling stages, furniture, and displays, adhering to safety and quality standards. Assist with video, sound, and light production during shows/performances, making adjustments as necessary for optimal results. Move furniture, road cases, and other equipment as needed, maintaining a neat and organized backstage area. Adjust stage scenery and curtains for various productions, working closely with the stage management team to ensure smooth transitions. Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of MPAC and Convention Center facilities, including backstage and storage areas. Possess knowledge of safety rules, building codes, and equipment operation for theater stages, prioritizing the safety of all personnel and performers. Be familiar with care and maintenance materials and procedures for stage equipment, ensuring longevity and optimal performance of assets. Acquaintance with techniques of stage preparation for theatrical or related productions, following established protocols and timelines. Demonstrate knowledge of electrical principles and practices relevant to stage setups, adhering to safety standards and regulations. Ability to operate vehicles, including forklifts, with skill and caution. Collaborate effectively with the production team and performers, fostering a positive and cooperative work environment. Possess physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and engage in manual labor to meet the demands of the job.
