Canine Rescue & Rehabilitation Coordinator 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars 1 Echo Hills, Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522

Position Overview:

The Canine Rescue and Rehabilitation Program Supervisor manages the dog program and coordinates with our award winning Animal Assisted Therapy team. They guide youth in dog training, grooming, and basic veterinary care. The Supervisor integrates Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques into daily work, combining dog training with therapeutic skills. They also help youth build communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills through activities like assisting with dog adoptions, office tasks, and teaching obedience classes. The schedule is afternoons to evenings, with Saturdays required. The right candidate will be trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

Position Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in psychology/education/recreation related fields and one year of experience OR Associate degree preferred. Certification in dog training (CPDT, KPA, or similar) OR five years of experience in professional dog training/behavior including both individual and group instruction

  • required. Two years of experience working with special education or high needs youth

  • preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong computer skills. Valid NYS driver’s license. Bilingual (Spanish)
