Job Description Overview We’re looking for a qualified LaundryAttendant who will assurethe proper washing, drying and storage oflaundry to keep linens and clothing up to Pyramid Hotel Groups highstandard of quality.
The Laundry Attendant will:
- Operate washingand drying equipment, load and unload laundry from machines.
Measure and administer cleaning agents to laundry according toproduct specifications.
- Monitor feeder information on washers,make sure all drums are full, and report any irregularities toimmediate supervisor.
- Empty the laundry chute and prepare loadsfor washer.
- Pre-sort and separate linen by classification andtransfer by lifting, carrying or transporting to work stations.
- Run folding equipment to fold mats, blankets, towels, bedspreads,etc.
- Separate out laundry requiring mending or special stainremoval.
- Clean empty hampers.
- Set the proper drying and coolingtimes for different types of linen.
- Clean up machines andsurrounding areas.
- Stock linen room with cleaned product.
Otherresponsibilities include (but are not limited to): Regularattendance in conformance with the standards, which may beestablished by Pyramid Hotel Groups from time to time, is essentialto the successful performance of this position. Employees withirregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up toand including termination of employment. Due to the cyclical natureof the hospitality industry, employees may be required to workvarying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. Uponemployment, all employees are required to fully comply with PyramidHotel Groups rules and regulations for the safe and efficientoperation of hotel facilities. Employees who violate Hotel rulesand regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to andincluding termination of employment.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
Inaddition to performance of the essential functions, this positionmay be required to perform a combination of the followingsupportive functions, with the percentage of time performing eachfunction to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon theparticular requirements of the hotel. Assist other positions indepartment as needed or as directed by immediate supervisor.
Responsibilities
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Theindividual must possess the following knowledge, skills andabilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she canperform the essential functions of the job, with or withoutreasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skillsand abilities. Working knowledge of the use of laundry chemicalsand different formulas, as well as effects on various types oflinen. Ability to prioritize and organize work. Ability to lift,bend, stoop, push or pull heavy loads, and stand for long periodsof time. Requires lifting bundles of linen weighing up to 75 lbs.
Ability to push and/or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 200 lbs.
Basic ability to comprehend English language sufficient tounderstand information such as safety labels and instructions.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education:
Any combination of education andexperience that provides the required knowledge, skills, andabilities. High School Graduate preferred.
Experience:
Nonerequired, laundry experience preferred.
Licenses or certificates:
None.
Grooming:
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and wellgroomed appearance (specific standards available).
Other:
Preferunderstanding of English language.
Note:
The hotel functions seven(7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours per day. All employees,both management and hourly, must realize this fact and be awarethat at times it may be necessary to move an employee from theiraccustomed shift as business demands.
