Duties Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals. Perform routine animal care tasks, including feeding, bathing, and exercising pets. Administer medications as directed by veterinarians, including oral and injectable medications. Assist with handling and restraining animals safely during examinations and treatments to prevent injury to staff and pets. Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilizing instruments and preparing examination rooms. Monitor animal behavior and vital signs, reporting any changes or concerns to the veterinary team. Assist with laboratory tests, including collecting samples for analysis. Provide support to pet owners by answering questions and educating them on proper animal care. Assist with/set up surgery & dental suites prior to surgical procedures. Perform laundry duties. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records. Assist with transporting pets to and from exam rooms & vehicles. Assist the CSR with scheduling/reception as needed. Completion of a veterinary assistant program is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Basic understanding of animal behavior and restraint techniques. High school diploma or equivalent (at minimum). Ability to lift and restrain animals of various sizes (can be up to or above 100 pounds). Ability to safely lift, stand, bend and/or kneel for the duration of an (up to) 10-hour shift. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends or holidays (as needed). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Compassion and empathy towards animals and their owners. Basic computer skills for managing records and scheduling. Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks. Good problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure. Commitment to maintaining a clean work environment.
