The Liaison monitors the wellness of boarders by performing hands-on checks at prescribed times throughout the day. Liaisons report status changes to all departments ensuring continuity of care throughout the facility. Liaisons dispense medications and vaccinations to all Resort guests as prescribed and are first on the scene should immediate medical attention be required. Essential Job Functions Identify specific physical conditions (including vomiting, diarrhea, eye, and nasal discharge, limping, seizures, bloat, wound injuries, skin issues such as questionable lumps and bumps) and follow a prescribed course of action to ensure animal safety. Use sensitivity, maturity, and professionalism in all clients (and staff) communications. Maintain accurate and timely records documenting all activities and events as required. Responsible for daily all staff communication. Efficiently conduct work using daily tasks lists, checklists, and other organizational systems. Safely administer vaccinations and medications. Use strong time management skills to accomplish all tasks; reassess priorities due to unanticipated events. Conduct all work with a calm, confident demeanor. Follow all handling guidelines to safely navigate dogs throughout the facility. Practice positive reinforcement dog training using treats. Adhere to changing work schedule which requires rotating shifts, weekend shifts, holidays, and overtime in accordance with business needs. Take on any additional tasks or projects within the facility when requested. Learn, understand and identify universal canine body language and dog behaviors. Learn and interpret dog body language to anticipate reactions. Make sound judgments to maximize safe outcomes. Learn/follow specific steps and protocols for appropriate and timely communication with Pet Parents and Team Members. Learn and follow a color-coded caution system describing employee restrictions and permissions for dog handling. Listen and respond to verbal instructions communicated in person, over loudspeaker, or walkie talkie.
Schedule:
Full-time Veterinary Technician position for the resort side. Monday to Friday, with availability to rotate weekends with team members. Holidays are required as needed. Pet industry experience strongly preferred Passionate about animal welfare; treats all animals with compassion and kindness Comfortable interacting with dogs and cats of all breeds and sizes Education Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) preferred but not required High School Diploma required Computers Skills Must be able to learn and use all appropriate technology to effectively perform role Must be able to learn and easily adapt to new technology to meet business needs Physical Demands Regular standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, reaching and climbing Lift and carry up to 50lbs regularly and up to 175lbs with appropriate assist Safety handle and walk large dogs, manage strong leash pulling Sufficient manual dexterity for all tasks Ability to hear animal vocalization and verbal instruction clearly Visual acuity to observe animal behavior, detect distress/illness and read materials Working Conditions Potential exposure to dog and cat bites Potential exposure to contagious diseases or infections Exposure to contaminants Exposure to extreme weather (i.e. heat and cold) Must work around pet hair and dander Disclaimer The above information has been designed to indicate the general nature of work performed by employees within this classification.
