Veterinary Technician St. Francis Animal Hospital Brooklyn, NY 11228 Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to Veterinarians in the care and treatment of animals. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the health and well-being of our patients, while also delivering exceptional customer service to pet owners. Responsibilities Include but are not limited to: Assist Veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures. Provide animal restraint during examinations and treatments to ensure comfort and safety for both the animal and staff. Collect samples and conduct routine in house laboratory tests and analyze results. Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the Veterinarian. Assist in anesthesia induction and surgical prep. Monitor anesthesia and recover patients after procedures. Maintain aseptic techniques during surgeries and other medical procedures. Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment. Perform dental procedures (prophylaxis/extractions etc.). Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient. Educate pet owners on proper animal care, husbandry, nutrition, vaccine recommendations, etc. and be able to properly answer any questions. Maintain the cleanliness of the hospital and all work and treatment areas. Skills Verifiable experience and proficiency of skills is required. Punctuality, flexibility and reliability are a must. Ability to lift, carry and climb stairs throughout the day. Strong knowledge of animal anatomy and Veterinary terminology. Proficient in animal husbandry practices to ensure optimal care for pets. Experience with animal handling and restraint techniques to promote safety during interactions. Proficient in acquiring samples (blood, cytology, urine) for analysis or for submission to outside lab. Ability to perform X-ray procedures effectively while ensuring patient safety. Proficient in placing and removing IV catheters. Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with pet owners, the DVM and team members. Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time Pay:

$28.00 – $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
