Job Description
Veterinary Technician 3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510 SPCA Westchester is seeking part-time and full-time Veterinary Technicians to join our talented staff of medical professionals at Cody’s Clinic . The ideal candidate will be an experienced vet tech who enjoys working with a mission-driven organization and a caring and energetic team. Veterinary Technicians are responsible for the care of clinic animals and assisting the Veterinarian in their duties.
Job Classification:
Part-time (schedule based on availability) and Full-Time (four 10-hour days) positions available. We are open to working with the right candidate based on candidate availability and clinic needs.
Duties:
Order and maintain medical supplies. Conduct fecal exams and routine parasite control. Medicate and vaccinate animals as needed. Perform routine lab tests and cytologies. Assist the veterinarian as required in surgeries, treatments, post-operative care. Maintain record-keeping and drug logs. Calculate drug dosages, administer sedatives IV and intubate, and place catheters. Physical, mechanical, or chemical restraint of animals for treatment. Care and feeding of sick, quarantined, and client animals. Other vet technician duties as required.
Qualifications:
NYS Veterinarian Technician License (preferred). 2-3 years of vet tech experience. Strong working knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of the veterinary technician field. Strong knowledge of anesthesia inductions, monitoring, and recovery. Good oral and written communication skills. Positive team attitude and the ability to work effectively with the public and staff. Ability to relate to and care for all types of animals according to accepted animal care practices.
Salary:
$24-$36/hour to commensurate with experience.
