About Birch Hill We operate as a full-service, wide-array hospitality company with four generations of experience and dedication. Located at 1 Celebration Way in Schodack, we’re just 15 minutes from Albany and 25 from downtown Troy. We primarily serve the Capital Region, though our catering fleet often finds its way to Cooperstown, Lake George, and Kingston. With eight of our own versatile venue spaces, we host a wide range of events—from weddings and galas to fundraisers and corporate gatherings. About Our Team Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or new to the industry, our team is composed of all different backgrounds and skills. We aim to create a welcoming, team-oriented environment in an industry of celebrations and lavish events. Ultimately, our goal is to deliver unforgettable experiences to our guests by working hard and dedicating ourselves to providing quality service and cuisine. About the Role We’re looking for a full-time Sales Manager to join our events and catering team. This is a high-impact role focused on managing the full lifecycle of an event—from the first inquiry to the final guest goodbye. You’ll conduct outreach, build rapport, and guide each client through sales presentations, venue tours, event planning, and day-of support. The role is a blend of relationship-building and logistics, sales and service, follow-through and finesse. It’s fast-paced and highly rewarding for someone who thrives on both planning and people. While much of the work happens during weekday office hours, most events fall on weekends—so finding the right rhythm between the two is key. We provide independence and empowerment to those who can remain organized, proactive, and dependable. About You You’re someone who enjoys both the thrill of closing a deal and the satisfaction of seeing that event come to life. You understand that great sales is built on great relationships, and that those relationships only flourish with consistency, clarity, and care. You are comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, and you’re excited about taking ownership over your role. You’re the type of person who keeps their inbox organized, calendar color-coded, and communication warm but concise. While we plan for success, flexibility is a key element as well, as we constantly adapt to shifting expectations and timelines. General Responsibilities we look for our Sales Managers to perform: Respond to and manage incoming leads with professionalism and speed Conduct venue tours and client meetings, tailoring presentations to each event type Distill comprehensive conversations into detailed contracts and proposals Coordinate with the culinary and hospitality teams to ensure event accuracy and feasibility Clearly communicate client preferences and expectations across our different teams Maintain organized, ongoing communication with clients throughout the planning process Provide on-site support for your booked events, including day-of coordination Look for opportunities to grow and improve your processes General Qualifications we look for our Sales Managers to possess: Experience in sales, event planning, or customer/client-facing roles Familiarity with the hospitality industry is a plus, but not explicitly required Strong communication skills – both written and verbal Ability to manage multiple clients and events while remaining organized and collected A commitment to proactivity, responsiveness, and thoughtful service A friendly, confident demeanor that builds trust and rapport with clients and teammates alike Flexible availability including evenings and weekends, based on event schedule We ask that our staff be comfortable and capable of lifting at least 35 pounds, as some aspects of event setup or execution may require light physical tasks. Sales Managers are expected to be on their feet for several hours at a time during tours, walkthroughs, and events. Compensation We strive to be competitive and meet the expectations of our staff. Sales Managers are paid on a base hourly wage with a competitive commission rate. There may also be regular opportunities for overtime and additional earnings based on performance and volume. Gratuity is occasionally received at the discretion of guests but is not guaranteed. We encourage all to apply who seek engaging and fulfilling advancement in their career. We regularly offer positions for all levels of service, sales, grounds, and kitchen staff.
