Cashiers at Hingham Lumber set the stage for customers entering our front door. They are the first impression of who we are and the last touch as they are exiting. Cashiers build long lasting relationships with our customers and work the with the Hardware Sales Team to find ways that we can improve on our customers experience. Acknowledging every customer as they enter the store and make them feel welcome Maintain great communication with the Hardware team and Management to ensure everyone is informed of specific issues. Maintain a positive attitude as a team player. Act as a mentor to coworkers, sharing your insight with best practices and service experience. Always use your best judgment thinking of what is best for your team, and the company, to advance not only individual, but departmental and organizational goals, in the spirit of teamwork. Direct customer complaints to management, professionally relaying all pertinent customer data and product information. Maintain store housekeeping and checkout area, as time allows perform shelf managing, down stocking and straightening up as needed. Stay familiar with sale items, and promotional events. Display a professional attitude, and demeanor, including courteous interactions with customers, team members, and other company leaders. Actively contribute to the work of the sales and other department teams and promote high standards of customer service by creating energy and enthusiasm.

Customers:

o Ask customers if they need any help locating a product, direct them to the area and/or call a Hardware sales associate to direct/show them. o As customer approaches checkout area, ask if they found everything, they were looking for o Ask every customer if they are an Ace Rewards member, if not offer them the rewards card o Process transactions in an accurate and timely manner making sure the customer in front of you is your priority o Scan every product as it goes through the register making sure an accurate inventory is being accounted for o Thank every customer at end of transaction, give receipt as well as any bag stuffers we have Keep Cashier stations organized and clean

• wipe down carts, credit card machines, dust merchandise, sweep area and shelf manage checkout area. Keep front end supplies stocked
• paper, Ace Rewards cards, bags, paint sticks, etc. As staff and time allows
• make keys, retrieve carts outside and put returns away.

Perform other duties as workload and needs require.

Requirements:

Minimum high school education Minimum 2 years in similar position

• some retail experience preferred.

Customer Service experience a plus. Work independently and resourcefully Motivated and flexible with a positive attitude. Good interpersonal skills Professional appearance and demanor Strong verbal and computer skills Excellent communication skills
