We are a 501(c)(3) organization which means that we do not engage in partisan politics in our work. MVP works to encourage people to register and to vote. You will be responsible for having a certain number of conversations per day, listening to their issue concerns and encouraging them to vote (But not for or against any candidates or parties!).

Responsibilities:

In this position, you will have the opportunity to: Work door-to-door to talk to targeted community members about local issues. Track and report your conversations daily in a database system. Represent the Merrimack Valley Project in the community. Required Qualifications Must be comfortable with and enthusiastic about discussing topics related to local and state politics and public policy (but you do not need to be an expert on this policy). Must have the physical stamina to stand/walk for long periods (up to 5 hours per day) while meeting and talking to people. Ability to memorize and recite provided scripts and statements. Ability to collect information such as name, zip code, phone number, and/or email address. Consistently meet daily and weekly conversation goals. Willing and able to learn how to use a tablet/phone to sign up for shifts and to track and submitdata. Excellent communication skills including active listening and interpersonal skills. Ability to work within a team and independently. Valid driver’s license, access to a car, or transportation (to get to assigned neighborhood) is required. Smart phone required (we will reimburse for work-related use). Candidates who are bilingual in Spanish and English are highly encouraged to apply. Salary and Benefits:

This is a paid hourly position with an hourly rate of $22 ($20/hr base rate + $2/hr as a built-in gas and transportation stipend).

Location:

This position can be located in any and/or all of the Greater Lawrence, Lowell, and Haverhill areas of Massachusetts. Canvassers must be available for at least two or three shifts per week, with flexible dates/times, during the times MVP is canvassing, currently from 12-7pm.
