Job Requirements, Essential Skills, Abilities and Job Responsibilities Optical Assistant Frame and contact lens sales, eyewear measurements, fitting and adjustments, ordering/ receiving merchandise Verification of insurance benefits Must be proficient with lensometers Knowledge of post-operative Medicare, Medicare Replacement Plans eyewear benefits Must have excellent communication skills, proper grammar and writing capability Team-oriented Familiar with all forms associated with the patient’s medical record (paper / electronic) Familiar with the use and operation of optical software/ Officemate a plus Knowledgeable about lenses, frames and all optical supplies Must have proficient computer skills Must be able to problem solve Must be detailed oriented
