This role is essential in providing exceptional customer service and expert advice on trees, shrubs, perennials and garden supplies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plant identification, plant care, disease and insect management, and general gardening knowledge. Weekends as well as some weekdays are required.

Full Time Role and Responsibilities:

This role is essential in providing exceptional customer service and expert advice on trees, shrubs, perennials and other garden plants. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plant identification, plant care, disease and pest management, and general gardening knowledge.

Tasks:

Greet and assist customers with their gardening needs, providing expert advice on plant selection, care, and maintenance. Answer customer inquiries regarding plant identification, disease and insect management, and general gardening practices. Promote and sell trees, shrubs, perennials and supplies, highlighting their features and benefits. Maintain and update product displays to ensure they are visually appealing and well-stocked. Monitor the health and appearance of plants, ensuring they are well watered, pruned and free of pests and disease. Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing plant shipments. Ensure working areas are clean, organized and safe for customers and staff. Stay updated on the latest gardening trends and share knowledge with customers and team members.

Skills Required:

Perennial and nursery stock knowledge (trees, shrubs and fruiting) including plant names and plant maintenance requirements. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs. Passion for gardening and a desire to share knowledge with others. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. A willingness to work in other departments or roles as seasonally required. Must work outside in all weather conditions. Proficient using a computer, basic knowledge of excel and word. Ability to learn retail management system.

Education Preferred:

2-4 years of experience in retail. A degree or certification in horticulture, botany or a related field is preferred but not required. Preferred Skills Active Learner
