Position Schedule:
Tuesday – Saturday, 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. You’re alert and on guard. Are you concerned about the safety and security of those around you? Are you always alert and paying attention to detail? This job requires the ability to stay focused and avoid distractions to ensure the safety of the area you oversee and protect. You’re calm and confident. A person who doesn’t get riled easy is a good candidate for this job. You must be able to handle disruptions or disputes that might arise keeping your temper in check and maintain control of the situation. Essential Duties:
Offers and provides guest assistance and radical hospitality at all times, proactively; with special attention to new guests, ensuring a thorough orientation process. Assists case managers in completion of guests’ initial intake information, after hours or when case managers are not readily available to meet with new guests right away. Ensures well-organized, safe, and secure lobby area by maintaining a high standard of housekeeping and order. Abides by all Nashville Rescue Mission policies and procedures, giving priority to safety and security procedures. Maintains order among guests and protects property, visitors, volunteers, and other guests within Guest Services entry lobby. Takes charge and directs others in emergencies or other dangerous situations within the Guest Services entry lobby. Performs weekly walk-through checking facility for repairs or needed replacements. Supports the Guest Volunteer Program, in cooperation with Case Management. Receives and distributes all mail. Greets all entering guests with a warm smile. Effectively uses ClientTrack for guest registration, incident reports, case notes, and bed assignments. Communicates with Supervisor and management directly and through incident reporting system. Exhibits professional appearance at all times by wearing clean jeans or khakis and Mission shirts. Communicates via two-way radio (walkie-talkie) and/or telephone to a variety of first responders (Police, EMTs, and ambulance) as needed. Provides front desk assistance in storing guest luggage, clearing lockers, and directing guests to appropriate assistance. Performs telephone reception duties. Keeps exits and entrances clear and maintains lock down areas as specified. Maintains an orderly, clean, and safe work environment within the Guest Services work area. Leads devotion for Guest Services. Fills in for Guest Services Supervisor, as needed, including accurately completing incident reports and shift log at the end of each shift. Cooperates with other team members, assisting them as needed. Serves as a personal witness for Jesus Christ and shares the Gospel with guests. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position. Works as a team player and recognizing that his/her actions directly impact the hospitable performance and reputation of Nashville Rescue Mission and the Mission’s Statement of Faith.
Other Duties:
Performs all other duties and tasks assigned by Supervisor or management. Assists in issuance of short-term guest parking permits as requested by Supervisor. Completion of high school (diploma or equivalent) preferred. Equivalent education or experience in job related activities may be substituted for education. Recognized correctional institution, and/or security guard certification and associates licensures, including but not limited to restraint and crowd control, are a plus. Driver’s license with clean record is desirable. Working knowledge of computer guest registration processes and ability to perform those duties in different locations as guest volume and Nashville Rescue Mission activities may require. Have and maintain valid and current certifications for certain skills such as: crisis prevention, first aid, CPR, and Narcan. Nashville Rescue Mission will provide certifications. Must be able to work with all levels of staff, volunteers, guests, law enforcement, and other community partners. Must be able to relate hospitably to people of different races, faiths, mental states, and states of inebriation.
Physical Factors:
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to move up to 25 pounds. Ability to work under pressure. Strong, effective interpersonal and oral communication skills. Must participate in annual crisis prevention training, learning restraint and de-escalation protocols.
